The Texas Technology Access Program at the Texas Center for Disability Studies leads the state’s efforts to carry out the federal Assistive Technology Act of 2004.

Assistive Technology (AT) is any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Simply stated, Assistive Technology is tools and resources used by individuals with disabilities to help improve their quality of life and increase their independence.

We develop programs to improve access, advocacy, and awareness of assistive technology to meet the needs of all Texans with disabilities.
